WTC Ballerup achieves DGNB Silver – A sustainability seal for the workplace of the future

An official major step towards a greener future has been achieved: World Trade Center Ballerup is now DGNB Silver-certified — a recognised quality label for sustainable construction in Denmark.

What does DGNB Silver mean for WTC Ballerup?

DGNB (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Nachhaltiges Bauen) is an internationally recognised standard for sustainability in construction, based on a holistic assessment of environmental, economic, social and technical qualities throughout the project’s entire life cycle. To qualify for DGNB Silver, a building must achieve an overall performance score of at least 50%, documenting solid sustainability results across six main areas.

With the DGNB Silver certification, WTC Ballerup stands as a strong example of how modern commercial construction can be attractive, functional and sustainable. The certification is not only a quality label — it documents that the building meets criteria for energy efficiency, environmental impact, user comfort, economic viability and process reliability.

The entire WTC Ballerup, both the original building and the new extension, also has Energy Label A, underscoring the building’s high energy efficiency and low operating costs — a strong complement to the DGNB certification.

The development includes a modern high-rise with flexible office facilities, a conference centre, networking rooms and serviced apartments — all designed with a focus on wellbeing, energy-efficient operation and future-proof use. The certification is the result of close collaboration between the developer, contractors, consultants and sustainability experts.

Why this matters to us

At a time when the green transition and sustainability are key parameters for investors, companies and society as a whole, the DGNB certification gives WTC Ballerup a strong position — both as an attractive workplace and as a future-proof property project. Energy Label A and DGNB Silver together document that the building meets both environmental and economic standards, while also providing assurance to both tenants and partners.

“We are immensely proud to be able to document our sustainability ambitions with DGNB Silver. It is proof of our long-term commitment to quality, employee wellbeing and responsible use of resources,” says Henriette Bjerg Persson, Managing Director of WTC Ballerup.

With DGNB Silver behind it, WTC Ballerup is taking a significant step towards setting the standard for sustainable commercial construction in the region. The certification supports our strategy of offering modern, future-proof premises where both companies and employees can thrive — today and tomorrow.
